Product and History
In 2009, Thomson Reuters acquired Sabrix, a premium provider of transaction tax integration services that was already well-equipped to connect with SAP and Oracle ERP systems. Thomson Reuters saw the benefit of offering small to medium-sized businesses a highly efficient transaction tax compliance service, however for their customers operating on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Commerce, Customer Engagement, Business Central, and AX, there wasn’t a way of integrating this new software into their ERP.
Project
Strategic Solutions NW’s role was to help Thomson Reuters integrate its newly acquired tax engine into the Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE suite of products (now called ONESOURCE Indirect Tax) and customize the software to have the capability to easily integrate with the full suite of cloud-based D365 solutions. This would enable their customers currently using Microsoft ERP software to easily integrate the product with their system and comply with the ever-changing requirements of indirect tax instantly.
Challenges
Customize acquired tax engine for all Microsoft Dynamics products that would execute within the Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE suite of products.
Customize and integrate Order-To-Cash and Procure-to-Pay functions within the extension.
Set up IDT with Azure to facilitate indirect tax imports for sales tax, use tax, VAT, GST and other country-specific tax codes.
Solutions
Provide online training with detailed installation and user-guide documentation for managers and staff.
Create a detailed timeline for deliverables, shifting the onus onto Strategic Solutions NW to deliver by the deadline.
Continue to upgrade and enhance the IDT Extension to maintain calculation accuracy.
Results
Enabled customers using Microsoft AX, Business Central, Commerce, D365O and other Microsoft ERP platforms to use Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax calculator for all business transactions, including sales tax, use tax, VAT, GST and more.
Through documentation empowered prospective and existing customers to implement the extension.
Provide continued support following Microsoft’s update schedule.
